Let see this:

If I say "It was so cold today", I have a simple sentence, but if I add "that we couldn't go out" I have an adverb clause of result. As simple as that! In simple words an adverb clause of result is a simple clause that point out the consequences that brings "the action" we are talking about.

I have to say I use this grammar point when talking, but I never thought I was using "Adverb clauses of result". In addition, I did it wrong in the midterm, but at least now I know what the professor was talking about on it.
